Microwave Carmels

These are the easiet and fastest carmels to make. When Dave and I were first married I made them for our first Christmas. From that point on Dave wanted to know how to make them and more then once I'd find him hopping out of bed (we lived in a horseshoe and that was our couch for a while) to make carmels to munch on while he was watching movies. Now when I get a craving for carmel apples I whip up a batch and eat it right out of the bowl. It is also good for dipping preztels in.

1 cup Butter
1 cup Karo Syrup (light color)
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
dash of Salt

Place Butter in a large buttered mixing bowl. Microwave on medium high 1-2 minutes until Butter is completely melted. Blend in the Brown Sugar, Sweetened Condensed Milk, Karo Syrup, and Salt. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove the plastic wrap and stir the ingrediants really well. (Be really careful when removing the plastic wrap due to steam. Being burned by steam really hurts!!!) Microwave on Medium High for 16-20 minutes until it reaches a softball stage. Mix in Vanilla and pour the mixture into a 8x8" pan. Cool at room temperture before cutting and then wrap individually.
